Regatta Week

Competitors, spectators, friends and family are extended a warm welcome to Deben Yacht Club Regatta Week 2024 which, again this year, is kindly sponsored by Ellisons Solicitors.

The Regatta will consist of racing, fun activities and social events starting with the first race at 11.00 on Monday 5th August.  There will be 2 races each day for the main Regatta series until Thursday 8th August, and then a series of individual trophy races on Friday 9th August.  A prize-giving will be held for the main Regatta at around 17.30, after racing on Thursday evening and this will be followed by a BBQ at the clubhouse.  Prizes for the trophy races will be presented at a similar time after racing is finished on the Friday.

Racing is open to visitors and club members, with fleets organised into Fast, Medium and Slow handicap.  The classes / PY handicaps qualifying for each fleet will be dependent on the number of entries from each class and so competitors will be told in which fleet they are racing at the briefing. The DYC Regatta is always a fun week and under 18s are particularly encouraged to participate. Club boats are available to hire. Options include Topper, Argo, Feva and Laser.

Full details can be found in the DYC Regatta Week Notice of Race 2024 Please also refer to the DYC Sailing Instructions for Regatta Week 2024.

Entry is online only and all entries will be for the full 5 days.  Daily entries will not be accepted. All entries should be received by Saturday 3rd August.

Competitors should apply either via the Adult Entry Form or Entry Form for U18 Helms. Note there is a requirement for a Parent/Guardian Declaration Form to be downloaded for all participating under 18s, – whether helm or crew. Each form should be signed by their parent/guardian and submitted to the club.  Printed copies will be available at the club.

The entry fee is £20 per boat (£10 if the helm is under 18).  Payment is preferred by bank transfer (details sent upon entry) but if this is not possible, please make payment at the club by cash or card.

Racing starts at a different time each day due to the tide so please check the Club Programme or the Notice of Race for daily first start times and the times of high water.  Races are normally held back-to-back each day with the aim of finishing roughly when the tide turns at High Water.
